PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Perform general maintenance and minor repair of building structures and their mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout the campus. Assist with maintenance of grounds. To help maintain the physical school plans in the condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED, preferred
Clear driving record, required
Valid Texas driver’s Class C license, required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Must be familiar with chain-link fencing, metal cover walkway and playground equipment installation
Must be familiar with concrete work
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in related field, preferred
Workdays: 242
Pay Grade: Auxiliary Pay Structure 3
Pay Date: Monthly
Hourly Pay Range:
Minimum: $13.50
Midpoint: $16.16
Maximum: $18.82
Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain and care for school grounds as assigned by supervisor.
- Perform tasks involving light metal jobs, bleachers and concrete forms.
- Repair and install chain-link fences.
- Repair and install metal cover walkways.
- Assist in recommending supplies and equipment for purchase and assist in maintaining the inventory of assigned district-owned tools, equipment and supplies.
- Repair and install playground equipment as specified by the manufacturer.
- Form and pour concrete.
- Assist with asphalt repairs.
- Assist with the striping of parking lots.
- Repair outdoor chairs and benches.
- Assist in estimating costs of repair projects in terms of labor, material and overhead.
- Work outside of regular assigned work schedule to include extra-curricular functions and to repair/replace needed facilities that may involve night and/or weekend duty as requested.
- Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
- Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
