Position Description:
Our GPS Technicians perform on site surveying using GPS equipment, including drones and range poles. They assist foremen with staking, grade control, and check machines to ensure accuracy. Technicians will install wiring harnesses on bulldozers, scrapers and other equipment for new GPS installations.
The GPS Technician reports to the GPS Division Manager. Technicians work 40-50 hours per week plus additional overtime as required. This position requires travel across Iowa and Eastern Nebraska as projects are awarded. Travel is frequently day trips with occasional overnights (less than 20%).
This position is not eligible for telework.
Job Requirements:
- Performs on site surveying as directed by the GPS Division Manager.
- Responsible for topography and utility mapping and model building.
- Communicates and collaborates with foremen and superintendents in the use of GPS equipment.
- Communicates results to Estimators/Project Managers and Leadership Team.
- Installs and calibrates GPS equipment on new equipment.
- Reads and interprets grading plans and blueprints.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required. 2 year degree in Construction Technology, Surveying, or a related field preferred.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of surveying techniques required.
- AutoCAD, AgTek, Bluebeam, and/or Trimble experience preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs independently and walk up to 5 miles. Some climbing, kneeling, and squatting required.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record required.
- Must have outstanding customer service skills and professional demeanor.
- Must have effective time management skills and be able to work independently.
- Intermediate proficiency in Office 365 Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word, required.
Compensation: Starting at $45,000 - $50,000 per year with a company vehicle provided. McAninch pays 100% of all benefits, including health/dental/vision insurance premiums, life insurance and cancer insurance. 401(k) with 3% company match and paid time off is also available.
