What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Abuse Counselor position at MCC of Johnson City Inc?
Our organization treats those diagnosed with opiate use disorder utilizing medication assisted treatment. We are growing our counseling team and are seeking substance abuse counselors.
Qualifications:
1. One year experience in the provision of drug and alcohol counseling.
2. Licensed or ability to be licensed within 1 year of hire date, will consider those in school who have experience. (LMSW, LCSW, LPC)
3. Ability to interact effectively and appropriately in a supportive manner with diverse populations
4. Excellent verbal and written skills
Role and Responsibilities
Engage with those admitted to our outpatient medication assisted treatment program, providing counseling, case management and treatment planning related to opioid use disorder.
- Provide psychosocial intakes and assessments.
- Counsel patients individually or in group settings
- Develop treatment plans with measurable goals reviewing and updating to reflect patient needs.
- Connect patients with local resources to meet needs.
- Coordinate care with community services, court system, probation offices, as well as other agencies the patient is involved with.
- Comply with all HIPAA regulations, mandated reporting duties, as well as documenting progress appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain continuing education regarding drug and alcohol research and information.
Hours: Tuesday 9-12pm, Wednesday 9-2pm, Friday 9-2pm, the first Saturday of every month 9-12pm. These hours are required to be available for patient visits; additional hours are available for documentation completion.
All interviews will be at our Johnson City location.
