As a fast-paced, food-grade manufacturing facility, we’re committed to delivering quality, flavor, and safety in every bite. All powered by a team that works hard, works smart, and supports each other every step of the way.
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Plover plant. If you’re a hands-on troubleshooter with a strong mechanical and electrical background who thrives in a team-focused, solutions-driven environment, this is an exciting opportunity to grow your career with McCain.
What You’ll Be Responsible For.
As a Maintenance Technician at our Plover, WI Appetizer Plant, you’ll play a hands-on role in making sure our equipment stays in top shape so we can keep delivering the snacks people love. You’ll be right in the middle of the action in solving problems, supporting production, and helping the plant run safely and efficiently every day. Here’s what you’ll take on:
Keep things running: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime and boost performance.
Fix what’s broken: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, quickly and safely.
Pitch in on installs: Help with new equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications around the plant.
Stay ahead of issues: Spot potential problems before they happen and report anything urgent to your supervisor.
Be safety-first: Always follow safety and food quality protocols to protect yourself, your team, and our products.
Work as a team: Collaborate with your fellow techs, supervisors, and production crew to keep everything running smoothly.
Think improvement: Look for ways to make our maintenance processes more efficient and effective.
Roll up your sleeves: This is an active, hands-on job that involves lifting, crouching, climbing, and working in a fast-paced environment.
What You Bring To McCain.
We’re looking for someone who’s mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and ready to jump into a fast-moving production environment. If you’ve got a strong maintenance background and a team-first mindset, you’ll fit right in. Here’s what we’re looking for:
Experience matters: 2–3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, or a combination of training and experience that shows you know your stuff.
Tech-savvy with tools: Solid understanding of mechanical systems (gearboxes, sprockets, belts), pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems.
Problem solver: Able to read equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, and troubleshoot effectively with minimal supervision.
Math and measurements: Comfortable with technical math related to gear ratios, motor speeds, and system calculations.
Bonus points: Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and other control systems is a plus.
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Physically ready: Able to lift, bend, crouch, kneel, and work in noisy or warm environments.
Attitude is everything: You show up on time, communicate clearly, and bring a positive, “let’s get it done” mindset every day.
What You’ll Need To Succeed.
This role is all about being hands-on, dependable, and ready to jump in wherever you’re needed. Here are a few must-haves to hit the ground running:
Basic certifications: Must have or be willing to obtain forklift certification—experience operating lifts, hoists, or skid loaders is a plus.
Welding skills: MIG/TIG or stick welding experience is helpful; certification preferred but not required.
Safety-first mindset: Familiarity with OSHA regulations and food safety standards (like USDA, FDA, or SQF) is a big plus.
Schedule flexibility: Willing to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call as needed to support 24/7 operations.
Team readiness: Able to communicate clearly and work collaboratively in a team-based, production-driven environment.
