MAIN - Maintenance

Job Title: General Maintenance Technician – Canning Level: Hourly

Department: Maintenance

Reports to: Maintenance Manager 

Back up: Maintenance Manager 

1.0 ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES 

1.1 Repair and maintains plant machinery and equipment, in a timely and efficient manner, including, but 

not limited to:

1.1.1 Canning equipment

1.1.2 Fill Room equipment 

1.1.3 Blanchers

1.1.4 Wastewater equipment

1.2 Performs work order repairs, inspections and adjustments ensuring maximum equipment efficiency 

and effectiveness. 

1.3 Conducts electrical troubleshooting on motors and sensors

1.4 Conducts mechanical trouble shooting on gear boxes, belts and hoses

1.5 Responsible for some fabrication

1.6 Assist with and complete work orders, maintenance logs, wastewater logs, etc. 

1.7 Respond to requests for maintenance on production lines which may be in any area of the plant and 

not limited to assigned work areas

1.8 Adheres to the Food Safety and Quality Program(s) as well as following GMPs with the focus on 

delivering safe quality foods to our customers.

1.9 Other duties may be assigned.

3.0 LANGUAGE SKILLS 

3.1 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals. 

3.2 Ability to communicate with others orally. 

4.0 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

4.1 Must have good mathematical skills to include basic algebra for calculation of electrical/electronic 

equations as applicable

5.0 REASONING ABILITY 

5.1 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out and interpret instructions furnished in written, 

oral, or diagram form
