Chef/Butcher

McCall’s Meat & Fish Company is hiring for our new shop in Santa Monica! Our beloved neighborhood market has been serving the east side for over 10 years and our brand new store is taking off on Santa Monica’s Montana Avenue - 6 blocks from the beach! McCall’s specializes in fine meats and seafood, and we also offer a wide array of specialty retail products such as imported and domestic cheeses, oils, sauces, rubs, locally-sourced produce from the farmers market, and so much more. Skills/Requirements

• Interest and enthusiasm for unique food and beverage products

• 1 to 3 years of prior experience in cutting beef, fish, or chicken

• A keen attention to detail

• Delivery of exceptionally warm customer service that maintains the charm of our local neighborhood gourmet meat & fish market. We expect our staff to engage in conversation with all of our customers to help them meet their needs.

• Ability to work with a dynamic team with a positive disposition to help our company meet the needs of our customers and the Santa Monica shop

• Ability to work effectively under pressure; to take direction; to multitask; to prioritize responsibilities; and to manage your time effectively

• A can-do attitude when work challenges arise

• California food handler card or ServSafe certificate

Duties Include:

• Clean whole fish; clean shellfish for display case; pin bone sides of fish; portion sides of fish for the case, etc.

• Cut meat for sausage/grinds; grind meats; break down whole chickens; truss whole chickens; make spice blends for sausage, etc.

• Help organize and fulfill customer orders

• Assist in cleaning and properly packaging meat for storage

• Set up beef, chicken/sausage, or fish case for display

• Any task related to your job that is requested of you by management
