Operations Manager

McCall Thomas Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Operations Manager for our Electric Utility Services Division (EUSD). 

Job Location: Laurens, SC (This is not a remote work opportunity.)

Work schedule options: M-TH 4X10 or M-F 5X8

McCall-Thomas Engineering is a multi-faceted employee-owned engineering firm housing multiple divisions including the Communications Engineering Division, the Electrical Engineering Division, the Electric Utility Services Division, the Electric Field Operations & UAS, as well as the McT Learning Center and Print Services.

A McCall-Thomas Operations Manager will be responsible for departmental coordination and execution of shop and field maintenance activities and will advise the Manager of EUSD on departmental operations and personnel management. He or she will also interact with clients and establish working relationships. The Operations Manager will have the ability to repair all apparatus equipment in the  electrical substation or repair shop and train personnel how to do so. He or she must be competent, exhibit good leadership skills, and lead technicians on the job while providing a safe working environment. He or she will be responsible for all equipment and personnel, as well as any work performed by EUSD.

Primary responsibilities for this role: 

·        Overall responsibility for managing the operations of the maintenance shop

·      Provide direct supervision to department personnel to maintain employee efficiency, effectiveness, teamwork,        morale, quality and safety

·        Coach, teach, train, motivate and oversee personnel

·        Manage workflow to meet scheduled due dates and production demands

·        Work with vendors to optimize material availability and delivery

·        Analyze production issues to identify root cause and solutions

·        Participate in the hiring of new employees and in the annual review process

·        Ensure that any equipment problems are reported and follow-up to maintain effective maintenance support

·        Communicate, administer and enforce company rules, policies and procedures consistently

·        Manage inventory of materials

·        Answer questions from employees and clients concerning regulators, reclosers, transformers and breakers

·        Ensure all equipment serviced meets the highest standards of McCall-Thomas prior to being delivered to client

·        Assist with generating new business as required

·        Assist Manager of EUSD with additional duties as required

What Will You Need:

• Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship (required)
• High School Diploma/GED
• prior senior-level Maintenance Technician experience
• minimum 10 years' experience in the Substation Maintenance Field.
• Valid driver’s license
• DOT Certification 

Certifications and Training: 

Must have the ability to use and learn various new computer programs 

Completed Substation Technician Program

Cooper Recloser Certification

Regulator School Certification

Substation Safety Certification

Level 2 Thermographer

Electrical Schematics

Transformer Oil Diagnostics and DGA Analysis

CPR and First Aid
