What The Role Is
The Architect will partner with the Studio Directors to lead certain retail/franchise construction and renovation projects/clients from concept through final completion. They are strong communicators and work with internal and external teams to maintain scope and schedule. As an Architect in the FB DET office you’ll:
- Work with other licensed FB Architect(s) as an additional stamp for certifying construction documents when FB is AOR.
- Oversee all aspects of site development, hire and manage all consultants, develop all applicable drawing sets (demo, permit, city and planning documents, construction documents, bidding and GC selection, and construction administration.
- Have experience with all AIA based phases as they pertain to new construction and renovation projects.
- Direct third-party Project Architect(s) with (demo, permitting, city and planning documents, construction documents, bidding and GC selection, and construction administration) when applicable.
- Lead and document client meetings and brainstorming sessions.
- Lead, plan, and supervise the entire project from initial idea to final completion.
- Utilize creative problem solving to recommend solutions to help in meeting project deadlines and budget parameters.
- Work with Finance to manage financial aspects of a project, including maintaining project budgets, accounting expenditures. vendor billing, monitoring project expenses, and communicating to the project team.
- Guide staff through FB DET drawing templates for various repeat/roll-out projects.
- Hold project reviews for all AIA, AOR projects.
- Mentor technical designers within the various studios.
- Lead internal discussions regarding building code, technologies and software use, efficiency in setting up documents, AIA mentorship.
- AIA certification (FB will be responsible for all fees associated with renewing licensure)
- Required education necessary to achieve licensing in the US. Masters Degree in Architecture.
- 5 years of technical design experience, 1-3 years experience as a licensed Architect.
- In addition to licensing in Michigan, FB DET will require multiple licensures in multiple states. Priority states include Illinois, North and South Carolina, Florida. FB DET will work with the successful candidate to attain all additional licenses as needed for us to maintain AOR status.
- Relevant project experience -mid to large corporate buildings with retail and hospitality built environments preferred.
- Proficiency of Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Sketchup, Microsoft 365
