General Purpose:
Responsible for the Civil and Structural Engineering department including engineering and design teams and accountable for all Civil and Structural deliverables for engineering and construction projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and guide civil and structural engineering deliverables for heavy industrial sectors, especially power, chemical, metals, and oil & gas.
- Lead the implementation of design principles and standards.
- Develop and revise engineering design procedures and technical specifications.
- Lead project kick-offs, gates, deliverable milestones, and closeouts.
- Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and peer review on active projects.
- Provides technical support on construction or operating sites, as needed.
- Coordinate the activities of the design operation including organizing staff, allocating, prioritizing, and reviewing the work of subordinates, providing technical advice and instruction.
- Monitor and report on the status of current projects, assign resources and eliminate obstacles.
- Advance the practice of discipline work and the training of department personnel.
- Provide schedule and cost estimating support for civil/structural proposals.
- Lead the recruitment and selection of civil and structural design team personnel.
- Effectively communicate and project the principles of the Talent Advantaged Roadmap.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil or structural engineering with experience in civil/structural design for heavy industry.
- Professional Engineer license is preferred.
- Display a good working knowledge of industry standard design practices, phased engineering delivery, and engineering management.
- Understanding of design code standards and specifications (ACI, AISC, ASCE, IBC).
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Proficient in the use of structural design and analysis (STAAD, Advanced Steel, SDS, etc…).
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word with intermediate skills in Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to organize, allocate, prioritize, review, instruct and train work of subordinates.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with all levels in the company.
- Ability to attain and promote good customer relationships (both internal and external).
