Position Summary:
McCarthy is seeking a hands-on, collaborative Communications Coordinator to help create and implement internal and external communication strategies across our St. Louis, Kansas City, and Omaha offices. The ideal candidate is a strong writer who can craft clear, engaging, and impactful content, with an eye for design to create visuals that enhance the message. Driven and team-oriented, this person will work closely with key stakeholders across the company to gather information and align communication strategies with company goals. Key responsibilities include social media management, content creation, website and intranet updates, media coordination, newsletter and email publishing, and supporting other communication projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Storytelling & Messaging: Conduct interviews and craft engaging content that highlights our people, projects, company initiatives, services, and industry trends, ensuring messaging resonates with target audiences.
- Public Relations Support: Support public relations efforts by securing media coverage and boosting the firm’s visibility in key outlets. Responsibilities include collaborating with subject matter experts, answering inquiries, writing press releases, and producing media kits.
- Social Media Strategy & Execution: Write compelling social media posts and curate attention-grabbing visuals to drive engagement. Track analytics to assess performance and refine strategies for optimal reach.
- Website Management: Create and update pages on the company website and intranet, ensuring content remains fresh, accurate, and aligned with overall messaging and branding.
- Newsletter Creation: Produce and distribute internal and external newsletters, keeping clients and employees informed about key news, initiatives, and achievements.
- Award Nominations: Monitor potential award opportunities and collaborate with the team to create powerful, winning submissions.
- Data Management: Update and maintain project files and CRM database to ensure data is current and easily accessible. Track project milestones to stay informed on jobsite progress and be prepared to share stories both internally and externally.
- Meeting & Event Support: Coordinate events such as trade shows, conferences, client events, internal meetings, and community service projects. Support smooth communication between internal departments and leadership, and create presentation materials to reinforce key messaging.
- Pursuit Support: Assists with the project qualification, proposal, and interview process as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communication, Marketing, Business, or a related field required.
- 3 years of communication experience, preferably coordinating media relations within the construction industry.
- Experience in creative and technical writing including social media, press releases, award submissions, thought leadership articles, internal communications and overall messaging and branding.
- Required proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software.
- Desktop proficiency in all Microsoft applications, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with Hootsuite, Meltwater and CRM database management a plus.
