What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Laborer-Clinton Engineering position at McCarthy Bush?
A member of the McCarthy-Bush family of companies, Clinton Engineering (CEC) is a full-service general contractor and recognized leader in construction for the Clinton Community and surrounding areas since 1926. Specializing in design-build, new construction, rehabilitation and renovation of commercial, industrial and municipal projects, CEC boasts a local, experienced workforce who self-perform in variety of trades from carpentry work to concrete paving, steel fabrication & erection, to excavation and more.
CEC is currently seeking a General Laborer based in Clinton, Iowa.
The Laborer is responsible or performing duties, as assigned, that ensure a quality product is being provided in a safe and productive manner. This type of work could include assisting with concrete set-up, shoveling, raking, string-line set-up, steel layout and other physical tasks.
What makes you successful in this position?
- Understanding specifications or tolerances (pavement thickness, offsets, widths, framing, etc.) or the ability to learn them for construction or highway work
- Ability to read and understand documents, write routine reports, and basic emails/correspondence
- Basic math skills, such as adding; subtracting; multiplying; and dividing whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Team player mentality and the desire to be a part of a successful, hard-working team.
- Previous, demonstrated reliability and attendance
This position is based in Clinton, IA and will require some travel to job sites within the Gateway Community. The pay range for this position is $19/hour-$25/hour based on experience. Candidates must possess a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.
