Linwood is currently seeking a self-motivated, reliable and safety-oriented Mining Engineer for our underground limestone mine operation in Davenport, Iowa.
Our Mining Engineer is responsible for supporting the mine operations department through engineering expertise and application, operations data collection and project management. Each day, our Mining Engineer is on the move and spends a majority of their day trouble-shooting a variety of items or working on engineering projects, such as our mine ventilation system. In this team-centered environment, the Mining Engineer could be working in the office on a scheduled project, or in the field, as requested by operations supervisors. The Mining Engineer also oversees the accompaniment of MSHA inspectors and assists with quarterly inspections. This position must operate under the highest safety standards and exhibit safe working habits.
What makes you successful in this position?
- Strong technical experience with the ability to adapt and solve problems, as this role is responsible for creating mine mapping and data, as well as manipulating and changing it. You’ll need an advanced excel background and technical writing experience.
- Experience with AutoCad, Carlson or a similar/equivalent drawing program, as you’ll be asked to review maps on a monthly basis and more often as needed
- A bachelor’s degree within a mining-related discipline such as Mining or Geological Engineering
- A solid understanding of MSHA regulations with the ability to impact safe working practices
- Team player mentality and the desire to be a part of a successful, hard-working team.
- Flexibility. No two days will be the same!
The Company operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, with some weekend work, as needed. Pay is commensurate with experience. All Linwood team members must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
