Job Overview
The Survey Crew Chief will work with the Professional Land Surveyor and other Survey Technicians to execute field survey projects or the surveying component of larger Subdivision and Land Development Projects and assist McCarthy Engineering in the successful delivery of projects to clients. Project types represent a broad cross section of commercial, governmental, industrial, institutional, recreational facilities, residential, and retail.
Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, Plot of Highways, Route Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and Construction Staking,
- Maintain and adhere to QA/QC procedures/note taking and maintaining office and field project material.
- Supervise additional survey team members and assure safe and efficient operation of the crew.
- Assure all survey equipment and vehicles are kept in top working condition.
- Train junior team members to be productive, safe members of survey crew.
Core Competencies
- Proficiency with Trimble and Leica GPS, Trimble Robotic Total Station (S6), Trimble (TSC3) and TDS Ranger Data Collectors.
- Construction layout, ability to read and comprehend Construction Plans.
- Proficiency with Trimble and Leica GPS, Trimble Robotic Total Station (S6), Trimble (TSC3) and TDS Ranger Data Collectors.
- Construction layout, ability to read and comprehend Construction Plans.
- Strong math skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D knowledge and experience.
- Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Manage and prioritize several assignments at once.
- Ability to work with a team or independently.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Survey Crew Chief and 10 years as part of survey operation.
- Knowledge of survey practices and their application regarding site layout and design.
- Valid driver’s license.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
