QUALIFICATIONS: Must be currently certified as a BCBA with the Behavior Analytic Certification Board. Individuals who have recently completed their Master's Degree and are waiting to take the BACB exam will be considered on an individual basis. Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders and trauma preferred. Analytical skills necessary in order to synthesize a variety of clinical and social data to determine appropriate diagnosis, treatment plan and monitor effectiveness of treatment programs.

JOB GOAL: To support county-wide staff by providing behavioral supports and services designed to assist students with behavior, psychological, developmental or social disabilities. The Behavior Specialist is responsible for the development of treatment plans and the implementation of skill acquisition and behavior support strategies aligned with current best practices as well as responsibilities and duties within the collaborative team including but not limited to:
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess children for Functional Behavior Assessment as needed and assume leadership role in the development of FBA’s.
- Maintain caseload of clients. Assume leadership role in the development, implementation and oversight of comprehensive Individual Behavior Plan for each child assessed.
- Develop and implement skills acquisition, social skills programs
- Develop and implement positive behavior plans and strategies
- Confer with regular classroom teachers, along with special education teachers/student services staff regarding students with behavioral challenges.
- Collect, monitor, graph and analyze student data.
- Implement individual and classroom-wide strategies, interventions, etc. to increase adaptive behaviors and the development of functionally equivalent alternative responses.
- Support a classroom environment that fosters imbedded communication and social skills.
- Provide coaching and professional development to staff on behavior interventions and supports.
- Become CPI trained and provide annual training to staff
- Support teacher and parent training to facilitate the use of appropriate supportive strategies within school, home and community settings.
- Confer with parents and school-based team members on an ongoing basis and as a part of the collaborative team.
- Create recommendations for comprehensive services.
- Provide consultation and training for parents, teachers, and community members.
- Staff, train, coach and facilitate treatment teams; program monitoring, etc...
- Collaborate with other treatment team members and members of the child’s education environment regarding patients’ progress through interdisciplinary team meetings, record review, and informal discussions as appropriate.
- Provide training/supervision to interns as assigned.
