Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our public school therapeutic program, which serves students with emotional disabilities and trauma. The ideal candidate will provide therapeutic support, crisis intervention, and case management to help students achieve their emotional and academic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students with emotional disabilities and trauma.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on students’ needs and goals.
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ mental health needs and progress.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students’ overall well-being.
- Offer crisis intervention and support during emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and progress.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss students’ progress and needs.
- Provide training and support to staff on mental health issues and interventions.
- Stay updated on best practices and developments in the field of mental health counseling.
Qulaifications:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure or equivalentas a Mental Health Counselor in South Carolina
- Experience working with children and adolescents with emotional disabilities and trauma.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and therapeutic interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
