What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Intervention Teacher - SY 25/26 McCartney Ranch (New) position at McCartney Ranch Elementary School?
The Behavior Intervention Teacher is a specialized certified assignment that requires leadership and the ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate in the ongoing planning, implementation, and development in the area of assignment. The Behavior Intervention Teacher supports school staff in working with students who have a wide range of significant behavioral needs. The Behavior Intervention Teacher works closely with the Director and Assistant Director of Learning Support to ensure that programs that support students with behavior needs are established and implemented effectively and efficiently. The Behavior Intervention Teacher collaborates with administrators, district and school specialists, teachers, and other relevant staff in supporting student and school success.
Minimum Qualifications. The Behavior Intervention Teacher shall hold a Bachelor’s Degree in specialized areas of assignment; or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed below. A valid Arizona Teacher certificate is also required.
Preferred Qualifications. Special Education experience as well as experience working with children with significant behavioral needs.
Line of Authority. The Behavior Intervention Teacher shall be directly responsible to the Director of Learning Support.
Performance Responsibilities. The Behavior Intervention Teacher shall have performance responsibilities in the following areas:
- Collaborates with District personnel, school administrative teams, General Education & Special Education teachers, Related Service providers, and other relevant staff to support delivery of instructional, behavioral, social, and emotional services and supports for students with and without disabilities.
- Supports school teams in conducting functional behavior assessments (FBA) and developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
- Assists with the development and implementation of district policies and procedures related to programs for students with behavior, social, and emotional needs.
- Develops and facilitates training regarding systems for behavior management, including data collection, deescalation techniques and positive behavior supports.
- Supports teacher and staff implementation of IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) at the school level.
- Meets regularly with Educational Assistants supporting students with behavioral needs to provide feedback and support, and follow up on expectations.
- Assists the Director with the overall evaluation of the department’s behavior programs and services.
- Possesses understanding of Federal and state laws, board policy and District procedures related to students with disabilities.
- Ensures compliance with Federal and state laws and District policies and procedures.
- Works with district and school teams to coordinate and/or participate in district and department projects and committees.
Human Relations:
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Develop and maintain rapport with all interested parties, including administration, staff, parents, and the community, concerning the Districts' educational programming and support.
Equipment, Aids, Tools, Materials
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic application software (i.e. Google - Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
- Use office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.
Other Duties. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervising Director and Superintendent may assign.
