Martin County is currently accepting applications for an Account Technician (Passports) position in the County Recorder's office. The Account Technician (Passports) is a technical position involving the application of specialized knowledge of procedures, records and regulations relating to real estate recordings, vital statistics, and passport applications.
This is a full-time position, scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00AM until 5:00PM with a one-hour meal period (40 hours per week).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews and accepts passport applications pursuant to Passport Acceptance Agency guidelines and procedures.
- Processes and documents marriage license applications and issues marriage certificates.
- Records minister credentials and notary commissions.
- Assists customers with genealogical and real estate research as requested.
- Reviews real estate documents for accuracy and recordability.
- Processes documents (electronic and paper) presented for recording into computer real estate program.
- Interprets and draws out legal descriptions.
- Provides information to public inquiries in person, by telephone, fax and emails.
- Participates in continuing education and training sessions on applicable job duties, law changes, computer skills and other related matters.
- Performs other work-related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Specialized training or education beyond high school, but less than an associate degree.
- One to three years of progressive experience in related field along with the skills, knowledge and abilities required; or equivalent combined education and experience.
LICENSURE
- Valid driver’s license.
CERTIFICATION
- Passport Acceptance Agent Training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
At least three years of related experience which includes the following skills and abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of the principles and procedures of land descriptions, transfers and title flow of property, and real estate procedures.
- Working ability to read and draw property legal descriptions.
- Working ability to make decisions in accordance with the laws and policies.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Ability to maintain clerical records and filing systems.
- Ability to work with prioritizing workload to meet deadlines for multiple tasks and maintain efficiency with frequent interruptions.
