Marketing & Communications Assistant
McClure is currently searching for a Marketing & Communications Assistant (M&CA) to join our team! The M&CA will be an integral part of our Marketing team, responsible for enhancing our firm's visibility, reputation, and industry influence. This individual will work directly with McClure’s Marketing team while also supporting our Ankeny office in an administrative capacity. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator with strong writing and organizational skills, a keen understanding of marketing and branding, and willingness to be forward-facing with team members, clients, and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Administration: Duties may include, but are not limited to, front desk reception/supporting office guest needs, ordering office supplies, stocking free snacks and beverages, handling mail and packages, printing and binding reports and proposals, setting up meeting space, coordinating catering, assisting team members with in-office needs, and collaborating with vendors.
Conferences and Events: Manage McClure’s conference budget, calendar, and materials in collaboration with discipline leaders to ensure McClure is represented at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build relationships and identify business opportunities. Identify and secure speaking opportunities for firm leaders at industry conferences, panels, and webinars to position them as thought leaders. Lead and/or support internal events as needed. Events may require travel and/or attendance at events after hours on occasion for set up, tear down, etc.
Advertising, Sponsorships, and Media Relations: Build a deep understanding of industry and local publications, events, and organizations to develop advertising and media relations strategies to put the McClure brand in front of our target audiences. The M&CA may be responsible for drafting press releases, developing ad content and design, coordinating interviews, responding to media inquiries, pitching stories, and coordinating sponsorships.
General Marketing Support: Assist the Marketing team on projects and initiatives including, but not limited to, customer relationship management (CRM), maintaining marketing assets and databases, proofreading and editing content, organizing collateral and printed materials, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, business administration, or a related field.
- Strong technical writing and editing skills with the ability to maintain a consistent brand voice.
- Ability to manage media relations and foster relationships with journalists, industry professionals, and community partners.
- Proficiency in event planning, including logistics, budgeting, and vendor coordination.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with marketing tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar platforms.
