MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Patrolling and Monitoring: 

  • Conduct routine bike patrols of assigned areas, checking for safety hazards and document any irregularities.
  • Monitor for suspicious activities, unauthorized personnel, and safety hazards.
  • Examine exterior grounds to determine that these areas are secure and free of safety hazards.
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, report infractions and escort persons engaging in suspicious and/or criminal behavior off the premises.
  • Provide visible presence to deter potential incidents and ensure a safe environment for visitors and staff.

 

Guest Services:

  • Provide exceptional customer service and communication for all internal and external customers of the MCCNO.
    • Offer assistance to guests as they arrive and/or depart the MCCNO.
    • Receive oral or written complaints or comments from guests and respond accordingly.
    • Maintain a level of patience with guests (complaints, lost items, general directions).
    • Escort guests as requested to areas on property.
    • Effectively communicate directions effectively with internal and external guests.
    • Provide facility updates as requested by/to Senior Event Managers, Event Managers, and Coordinators pertaining to assigned areas.

 

Facility Information:

  • Maintain current knowledge of the MCCNO procedures and guest-related information including, but not limited to:
    • Facility general information.
    • Building operating procedures.
    • General event information.
    • Taxi/Transportation assistance.
    • Airport information.
    • New Orleans area.
    • Lost Items hold, assistance, and return.
    • Incident reporting.

 

Incident Response:

  • Partner with Campus Security to respond to and mitigate incidents.
  • Gather information by interviewing and obtaining statements from victims, witnesses and suspects.
  • Provide oral and written updates to Campus Operations and Event Services Departments (as required).
  • Respond appropriately to all emergency situations and safety hazards.
  • Lead the emergency procedures safety briefing for staff members in assigned working area as required.
  • Maintain current knowledge of emergency procedures and safety procedures for the MCCNO.

 

Grounds Inspections: 

  • Perform regular inspections of exterior grounds, identifying maintenance needs such as lighting issues, signage, and potential safety hazards.
  • Ensure booths, gates, and restrooms are properly secured at the end of each shift.
  • Ensure inventory parking devices and maintenance equipment as well as fencing and signage are secured.
  • Report any findings promptly to management or appropriate department for resolution.

 

Logistics Support:

  • Assist the Campus Logistics team with setup and breakdown, including managing temporary barriers, signage, and other logistical elements.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for scheduled maintenance or events, ensuring minimal disruption to regular campus activities.
  • Support crowd management efforts during large-scale events, providing directional assistance and ensuring smooth pedestrian flow.

 

Other Qualifications                                                

A Valid Driver’s license with no more than two moving violations in a twelve-month period is required.

Must be physically fit to perform bike patrol duties and respond to incidents across large outdoor areas.

 and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
