This position will be based in Houston with 3 days per week in-office required.


What you will do

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Experienced Staff Accountant to join our accounting team in Houston. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our growing firm, where you will play a crucial role in managing payroll, general ledger, and various accounting functions. The position requires flexibility, adaptability and ability to respond to changes in our dynamic environment! Leverage your ability to handle a variety of tasks and challenges with a positive attitude and a continuous improvement approach. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to new accounting applications and automated systems.


  • Process bi-weekly payroll and complete all necessary reports and entries for payroll processes.
  • Assist with completing labor to payroll reconciliations.
  • Process complex accounts payable benefit invoices monthly.
  • Assist with other accounts payable items and serve as backup when needed.
  • Complete monthly benefit clearing account reconciliations and communicate benefit invoice issues with HR.
  • Serve as backup with entering daily cash receipts in CCH Axcess and Costpoint.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Complete monthly and/or quarterly G/L account reconciliations and prepare adjustments/journal entries in Costpoint and supporting schedules with documentation.
  • Assist with tracking and maintaining monthly fixed asset schedule and making depreciation entries into Costpoint.
  • Assist in the quarterly and year-end financial closing process and produce supporting schedules.
  • Assist with responding to inquiries from firm wide managers in response to billing, WIP, and adjustments needed in CCH Axcess.
  • Provide backup support for billing/receivables.
  • Assist with property tax renditions.
  • Assist employees with expense report issues/questions.
  • Assist with creating clients and projects in CCH Axcess.
  • As part of our compliance program, all team members are required to follow industry leading data and system security practices.


What you will need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 2 – 3 years of Accounting Experience.
  • Working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
  • Expert ability and use of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Experience with accounting application systems (Deltek Costpoint and/or CCH Axcess preferred).
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
  • Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
