What are the responsibilities and job description for the Blast Operator position at McConway and Torley LLC?
The newly created Company, FerroWorks, has locations in Pittsburgh, McKees Rocks, and Kutztown, PA including McConway and Torley and Standard Forged, which have been in continuous operations since 1869, the same year the first US transcontinental railroad was completed. We have been able to meet the needs of our customers with a steady, dependable and economical supply of high-quality railroad industry products. As McConway is the original designers of the first standard automatic coupler, continued innovation and craftsmanship have and has led to a product line that includes every ARR approved coupler as well as custom coupler solutions, which are all proudly cast in the US.
McConway & Torley is currently searching for Blast Operator. As a Blast Operator, you will Load and unload castings into Blast machine for cleaning process. Monitor and adjust controls per specifications. Completes daily hoist report. Inspect all equipment used daily to ensure proper working condition and completes work order. Comply with all company safety rules and procedures.
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
What you’ll do:
- Run castings through the Blast for the required amount of time.
- Hook up castings and operate controls on floor mounted crane to load into blast bucket.
- Monitors and adjust controls throughout blasting process cycle.
- Empty the cleaned castings onto trays or boxes.
- Maintains/completes daily blast report and dust collector form.
- Shovels shot and debris that comes out of blaster.
- Notify forklift operator for bucket pickup of castings at completion of blast process.
- May operate forklift.
- Performs general housekeeping /clean up in work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need:
- Knowledgeable of blasting process.
- Must have knowledge of the use and operation of blasting equipment.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Ability to function as a team member, establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Highschool diploma, or GED.
Working Conditions:
- Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
- This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
- Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
