The newly created Company, FerroWorks, has locations in Pittsburgh, McKees Rocks, and Kutztown, PA including McConway and Torley and Standard Forged, which have been in continuous operations since 1869, the same year the first US transcontinental railroad was completed. As McConway is the original designers of the first standard automatic coupler, continued innovation and craftsmanship have and has led to a product line that includes every ARR approved coupler as well as custom coupler solutions, which are all proudly cast in the US.
McConway & Torley is looking for a Guage Room Technician. As a part of our quality team you will perform basic quality control testing and inspection of standard parts, units, equipment or material to ensure conformance with standards and determine if product meets all requirements.
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain the gauge room inventory using gauge-pack computer software
- Understand how repair a gauge with tight tolerances
- Physically manage gauges out on the production floor
- Use electronic equipment to log information retrieved from physical parts
- Identify/acquire tools, equipment, and outside services to maintain the inventory
- Communicate with other employees to track orders and give descriptions as needed
- Operate hoists and equipment as needed by work cell
- Communicate with outside vendors to arrange and schedule specific calibrations
- Create computerized requisitions to order goods and services
What You Need:
- Previous gauge management experience highly preferred
- Must be a detail oriented individual
- Must be able to double check your own findings in the event of mismatched information collected
- Must have strong interpersonal skills including being capable of working with others in the resolution of problems and getting the job done.
- Gauge-pack or relevant inventory tracking computer software experience highly preferred
Working Conditions:
- Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
- This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
- Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
