Overview: A fully competent engineer in the subject matter or the functional areas of the assignments. Lead engineering team in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Use judgment in making adaptations and modifications for projects of extensive scope and complexity. Provide creative and original thinking in the design process from the development of specifications to the approval of final engineering documentation. Apply engineering principles to ensure efficient, effective, economical, and timely solutions to product and process development challenges. Evaluate functional feasibility of designs and their conformance to specifications, through the application of engineering computation, company and client standards, industry specifications and simulation tools and techniques. Assess the accuracy and acceptability of technical documentation prepared by drafters, designers, and engineers. Work independently on planning and estimating technical work in area of expertise. Provide input and/or lead proposal development efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering project team leadership on major projects of considerable scope and complexity, with the highest degree of integrity, commitment, and professionalism.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal and external team members.
- Apply advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes in a specialized area of expertise; serve as company specialist in subject matter area.
- Conceive, plan, and develop new technical methods or approaches as warranted by advancements in state-of-the-art technology.
- Develop Statements of Work, estimates, and project execution plans. Provide technical leadership in the development of proposals and white papers.
- Synthesize engineering documentation from customer requirements.
- Thoroughly review all technical results developed by project teams to determine if outputs are complete, correct, integrated with project objectives, and adequately documented.
- Lead presentations of engineering work to internal teams, customers, and partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Expertise in performing engineering calculations (tolerance analysis, first-order thermal and structural calculations).
- Mastery of 3D CAD tools.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
- Expertise in interpretation of engineering documentation (drawings, parts lists, change orders, specifications, etc.).
- ASME Y14.5 proficiency.
- Must have the ability to obtain a Secret DoD clearance.
Education/Experience:
- BS degree from an accredited engineering college a minimum of 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Defense or Aerospace industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mastery of SolidWorks and/or PTC Creo
- Mastery of CETOL Six Sigma.
- Expertise in Finite Element Analysis tools. Creo Simulate and Ansys preferred.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering.
- Experience with manufacturing processes and equipment.
- DOD Security Clearance at the level of Secret or higher
