Position Summary

McCormick Taylor is seeking an Environmental Scientist with a Bachelor's in Environmental Science or related field and 5-10 years' experience.   The successful candidate will perform the role of an Environmental Scientist supporting Energy projects. We are seeking an individual who can work on a team on multiple projects, meet deadlines and work well in a hybrid office environment. Strong written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills, attention to detail and ability to organize is preferred. Previous experience collaborating with team members virtually is preferred. The candidate will be expected to report to McCormick Taylor’s office in one of the following locations: Baltimore, MD; Newark, DE; Philadelphia, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Salisbury, MD; Mount Laurel, NJ; Glen Allen, VA. 

Role would entail supporting the project team in support of obtaining the local, state and federal approvals for energy clients.  Experience conducting resource assessments and preparing environmental documentation (state and federal) for projects is required.   Experience with Energy Utilities, environmental studies/analysis, and local permitting (VA/MD/DE/NJ/PA) is preferred. Experience providing oversight of construction projects is not required but preferred.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities

•    Assist and begin to lead Environmental Assessment efforts
•    Assist technical staff with the following:

  • Support resource assessment, including field work, data collection, and report development.
  • Support local, state and federal permitting efforts for various infrastructure project types
  • Support site development design plan review, including constructability, and design coordination
  • Support the development of plans, permits, procedures and reports for hazardous waste, storm water, spill prevention, NPDES, and wastewater programs.
  • Support environmental compliance assessments and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Begin to lead project tasks, including document development, fieldwork and agency/client coordination

•    Develop an understanding of state and federal environmental regulations
•    Support mid-level and senior staff by providing oversight to entry level staff
•    Perform and lead Environmental Assessment field efforts
•    Attends project meetings and support presentations on specific projects/concepts
•    Successfully complete projects within allotted time frame and budget

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of professional experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources or a related field
  • Utilize GPS, and ArcGIS, for project data collection and analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and is able to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
  • The successful candidate must have experience in environmental regulations, and  knowledge of State specific requirements/regulation (NJ/PA/MD/DE/VA).
  • Must have the ability to work in the field in different weather conditions and physically navigate it
  • Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required
