Position Summary
McCormick Taylor has an immediate opening for a mid to senior level Environmental Planner in our Raleigh, NC office to support our North Carolina transportation market. This position will require a strong understanding of NEPA regulations and requirements. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment working on projects of varying complexities for a variety of clients. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about transportation and communities who can handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and work well in hybrid remote office environment. Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills, attention to detail and ability to organize is required.

Job Requirements
Responsibilities
- Work with an interdisciplinary team to lead planning for a variety of transportation projects for NCDOT and municipalities.
- Draft and review purpose and need statements.
- Manage/complete environmental study and documentation tasks for compliance with NEPA/SEPA, Section 4(f), Section 6(f), and other relevant state and federal regulations.
- Conduct community impact assessments and other socioeconomic studies.
- Assist with public involvement during project delivery.
- Provide background research and expertise to complete feasibility studies and Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) studies.
- Support marketing and business development.
- 7-15 years of professional experience with North Carolina transportation NEPA/SEPA documentation and other related environmental laws, including Section 4(f) and Section 106
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, planning or related field
- Master's degree and/or AICP is preferred but not required
- Strong communications and writing skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- NCDOT and municipality client experience in transportation is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite
- Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license to travel to various site locations and meetings
