POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Safety Engineer will implement procedures and processes to reduce occupational risk and support the Global McCormick Health and Safety policies. This person will be dedicated to insuring safe practices, obtaining injury reduction, increasing safety awareness, and delivering safety training programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a technical resource for the Plant, ensuring safe practices, injury/illness prevention processes and risk management.
- Conduct safety assessments and analysis on Plant equipment
- Comply with Federal and State regulatory requirements, apply McCormick Health and Safety policies and procedures, and establish best practices
- Monitor and verify regulatory compliance of Plant industrial hygiene (e.g. air quality, noise, temperature, and/or radiation levels)
- Inspect facility, machinery, and safety equipment. Identify and correct potential hazards
- Assist with developing lockout tag-out procedures, monitor and ensure technician compliance, deliver relevant training, inspect and ensure machine guarding requirements are met
- Monitor and ensure regulatory programs are developed and implemented (e.g. Contractors, Powered Industrial Trucks, Confined Space, Chemical Management, SDS)
- Conduct relevant training depending on site specific needs
- Facilitate the Safety Functional Leader program
- Participate fully in TPM activities
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Knowledge and experience with OSHA, US and International safety standards; American National Safety Institute (ANSI), and International Standard Organization (ISO)
- Understanding of the Industrial, Manufacturing environment and its specific safety practices
- Experience analyzing data and creating follow up action plans to facilitate change and process improvements
- Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation and diplomacy skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of safety experience in an industrial, manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience preferred
- Comprehensive understanding of cross-functional achievement of business goals
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
