POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a key member of the site leadership team the Materials Department Manager is responsible for achieving key performance indicator results that support our strategic objectives, goals, strategies, and measures (OGSMs) for a multiple-shift operation. The incumbent is responsible for all replenishment and planning activities and works with internal and external departments and resources to meet customer demand. The incumbent will also balance inventory, service, and cost objectives, drive collaborative supply chain improvements and deliver superior Customer Service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages production scheduling team to ensure the smoothest production curve that balances production efficiency with inventory levels and maximizes service to our customers.
- Meeting or exceeding established goals (Safety, Process Reliability - PR%, cost, waste, quality, service, inventory and other performance standards) as they relate to the plant performance
- Manages Capacity Utilization and highlights the need to change crewing or capital investment to support customer demand.
- Manages the Material Planning process to ensure timely delivery of materials and proactively identifies/escalates potential shortage / raw material issues in advance
- Works with appropriate internal and external contacts collaboratively to communicate and address potential issues that can impact customer service. Assesses issues, determines and provides recommendations to solve problems.
- Controls inventory levels and Days in Inventory (DII) to meet goals and objectives
- Ensures appropriate scheduling of new products that support commercialization timelines
- Leads material control team through Inventory at Risk (IAR) process including trend communication and improvement ideation to the PLT.
- In partnership with Production and Quality, facilitates the resolution of material or capacity constraints. Additionally, coordinates Plant with HQ S&OP functions to assure highest levels of transparency and customer service, while balancing cost of inventory and line efficiency.
- Utilizes the 6 HPWS Systems (Goal Setting, Performance Management, Problem Solving & Decision Making, Training & Development, Information Systems, Rewards & Recognitions) to empower and develop teams using established HPWS systems, core beliefs, guiding principles and attributes
- Potentially leads or co-leads the SC TPM Pillar. Supports SC Pillar routes as the way we do our daily work.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years functional or SC leadership experience
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Demonstrated skills and results in functional area
- Strong leadership experience with demonstrated success in managing projects and people
- Strong understanding of MRP systems and capacity management
- Strong problem-solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in an HPO/TPM organization
- APICS CPIM (Certification in Production and Inventory Management) Certification preferred
- Proficiency with SAP preferred
