What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Courthouse Security position at McCracken County Sheriff's Office?
McCracken County Sheriff’s Office is seeking qualified candidates for Part-Time Courthouse Security. This role is to ensure judges, courtrooms, and courthouse remain safe and secure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Transport inmates from the jail or other location for court in an efficient, safe, and timely manner.
- Check dockets for inmates requiring transport as well as anyone on the docket with outstanding arrest warrants or other paperwork needing to be served.
- Remain prompt and professional in and around the courthouse.
- Assist in the office when not in court by answering the phones and taking reports from civilians who come to the courthouse.
- Assist the public with direction based on their needs within the courthouse.
- Control entry/exit of the courthouse.
- Check personnel entering the courthouse for prohibited items by utilizing the magnetometer and handheld wand.
- Perform vehicle inspections.
- Complete fingerprint background forms for the public.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must attend Basic Court Security Training as required by KRS within one year of hire.
CERTIFIED COURT SECURITY OFFICER REQUIREMENTS:
- US Citizen and at least 21 years of age.
- High School Graduate/GED.
- Possess a valid Operator’s License.
- Have not been convicted of a felony.
- Not prohibited by federal or state law from carrying a firearm.
- Completed background investigation, psychological screening, polygraph examination, submission of fingerprints, and drug screen.
- Read and sign a copy of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Officer's Code of Ethics.
