Metro Equipment & Sheetmetal is seeking a dedicated and skilled Delivery Driver to join our team. This role involves performing a variety of routine and complex transportation tasks, including the delivery of materials to construction sites and manufacturing locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of traffic laws, defensive driving skills, and the ability to maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
Duties :
Transport and deliver goods to various locations.
Plan routes to ensure the most economical use of time and equipment.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned vehicles.
Maintain cleanliness and safety of vehicle interiors.
Remove items from the vehicle dashboard to ensure a clear range of vision.
Adhere to safety and security standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Requirements :
Frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.
Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk.
Lift and / or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work in outside weather conditions, occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, and poor driving conditions.
License Requirements :
Valid DOT certification or ability to obtain a valid DOT certification.
Ability to pass all medical evaluations relevant to the required Department of Transportation certification.
Ability to pass urine screens for drug use.
Desired Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
One (1) year of relevant experience, or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving skills.
Ability to safely drive various vehicles and operate listed tools and equipment.
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
Ability to read and comprehend written directions or road maps.
