Reports to: The Activity Director
Job Summary: The Activity Support Driver’s primary function is to provide transportation to residents for activities, medical runs, and on an individual basis as scheduled.
Salary: Based on experience.
Hours: Hours will be set by the Activity Director to include evenings/weekends.

Essential Functions / Duties:
- Follow policies to ensure the safe transportation of residents to and from McCrite Plaza; use safe driving practices, create a safe and orderly environment in vehicles, and ensure that residents abide by the use and handling of the step, seatbelts, automatic lift, W/C Tiedowns, wheelchairs, walkers, and canes when on the vehicle.
- Assess the bus and van for maintenance repairs, fuel, mileage, and cleaning (inside and outside) to ensure a safe, clean, workable environment and communicate concerns to the Activity Director.
- Responsible for the transportation phone; this includes use, adding minutes, keeping it charged, and responding to calls with “McCrite Transportation”; ensure residents are given the phone number card on medical runs or other individualized trips as they exit the bus or van so they can phone back for pick-up; assist residents by using the transportation phone, offering reminder calls as needed; keep the resident roster updated as a current communication tool.
- Assist residents on and off the bus with or without adaptive equipment; help carry groceries and/or deliver groceries to designated apartments.
- Develop and monitor plans to improve the transportation service while maintaining the bus and van in safe working order and keep the transportation logbook.
- Responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision during activities; make sure to account for all residents who get on and off the bus or van through roll call or visually counting them before departures).
- Be available for all calls and report life altering events or significant changes related to residents to the Director and/or any other department head directly involved in the needed intervention(s); fill out incidents reports as needed or requested.
- Contact residents with reminder calls about activities, events, and general items; provide assistance to residents to get to and from activities.
- Attend staff meetings, in‑service classes, and committee meetings as assigned.
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Must have a valid driver's license. CDL preferred.
- Operate computers programmed with software needed to record, store, and analyze resident information; operate copy/fax/printer machines to send documents and produce documents.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the Activity Director.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, stretch, crawl, kneel, balance, grasp, push, pull, reach, or work.
- Ability to lift objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects along a horizontal level but from position to position. This includes lifting and carrying weights in the 35–50-pound range.
- Ability to exert force upon an object in order to draw, drag or tug objects toward the source of the force in a sustained motion.
Education and Experiences: Prior experience in a similar working environment is preferred, but not a requirement of the position.
