Job Description:
The Department of History at McDaniel College seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach two courses in premodern European History (from Classical Greece through the 17th Century), in the fall of 2025. The successful applicant will be able to teach HIS-1105: "Ancient World to Early Modern Europe" as well as other courses in European and classical civilizations prior to the Age of Enlightenment. Our classes are taught face-to-face in Westminster, MD.
Responsibilities:
- Meeting all designated class periods.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
- Designing and delivering classes that work toward achieving the outcomes established for the course.
- Conveying course information and communicating with students through the College's online learning management system (Blackboard).
- Grading student assignments in a timely manner.
- Submitting mid-term and final grades according to college regulations.
- Attending compensated professional development opportunities.
- Building a positive rapport with students and faculty.
Requirements:
PhD (or ABD) in History or related field in addition to college-level teaching experience.
