Job Description:
To be eligible to apply for this position, you must be a current student enrolled at McDaniel College. This position is open to work study and campus employment students. ?
Position: Philosophy Tutor - Logic Revision
Dates: 7/2017- 9/2024
Salary Grade: Maryland Minimum Wage
FSLA Status: Non-exempt
Duration of Appointment: 8/7/2024-5/21/2025
Schedule: Schedule is at discretion of supervisor
Evaluation Procedures: Student workers are evaluated on a continuing basis
Responsibilities:
The tutor will meet on a weekly basis to:
- Review lecture and discussion materials with students from their respective course(s)
- Provide additional support to students struggling to understand the course material
- Assist students with preparation for tests and finals
- Assist students to conceptualize small stake assignments, essays and research papers
- Late afternoon or evening availability
- Other duties as assigned
Respective faculty will assist and supervise tutors in the philosophy department on a regular basis.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Current student at McDaniel who has taken Elementary Logic in a past semester
- Advanced knowledge of Elementary Logic
- Strong communication and human relations skills
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Excellent time management skills
- Able to work independently with little to no supervision
