Job Description:
Below is a list of Summer Residence Life Student Worker job responsibilities. The employment period is May 20th through August 8th, 2025 with specific time off being negotiable if discussed in advance.

- Evaluation Procedures: Student workers are evaluated on a continuing basis
Responsibilities:
Community Presence/Role
- The Summer Residence Life Student Worker is required to be on campus two weekends per month unless otherwise approved by the Office of Residence Life. The Summer Residence Life Student Worker is not required to do traditional "rounds", but if contacted by residents or Campus Safety for an emergency, the Summer Residence Life Student Worker is expected to help resolve the situation.
- The Summer Residence Life Student Worker is expected to be a positive role model. Violations of the Student Code of Conduct or other college policies may be cause for dismissal from the Summer Residence Life Student Worker position.
Central Office Responsibilities
- The Summer Residence Life Student Worker will work directly in the Office of Residence Life assisting the Operations Manager and professional staff with a variety of tasks and projects throughout the summer. This will amount to 30 hours a week total, with the exact hours per day being flexible if discussed in advance. If there are two Summer Residence Life Student Worker's hired, the hours are split between the two of them.
Check-In/Out
- The Summer Residence Life Student Worker is expected to assess rooms prior to move in when possible, and after a student moves out in all cases, for our summer undergraduate housing. Necessary work orders will need to be submitted and billable damage information will need to be shared with the Operations Manager. There are a total of approximately 60-80 summer residents normally. The Office of Residence Life will provide the Summer Residence Life Student Worker with information regarding the dates that people are checking in/out and their room assignments.
Keys
- Summer room keys are kept in the Residence Life office. The Summer Residence Life Student Worker will be given room keys by Residence Life professional staff for new student check-ins when necessary. There may be times when you need to take responsibility for the room keys in your room, but they should be kept locked in your personal room in these cases, and not left in any common areas. Misuse of master keys may result in termination of employment as well as compensation for re-coring locks.
Work Orders
- The Summer Residence Life Student Worker is expected to complete work order forms for the residents in their area.
Bulletin Boards
- The Summer Residence Life Student Worker is expected to maintain bulletin boards in their areas with relevant summer information including, but not limited to, the Summer Residence Life Student Worker's name, room number and telephone number, other emergency numbers (Campus Safety, etc.), quiet hours and other policy information, how to check in/out, etc.
Communication
- The Summer Residence Life Student Worker is responsible for checking email and room voicemail daily.
Emergency Procedures
The Summer Residence Life Student Worker is expected to respond to emergencies in the residence halls. They should contact Campus Safety when assistance is needed in handling a situation. During business hours, emergencies should be reported to the Residence Life Office.
Compensation:
- Single room during the employment period at no charge.
- 14 meals/week Meal Plan
- $15/hour for time worked in the main office
