Description
Part of a staff team for Family-Centered Treatment of Pregnant and Postpartum Women in Haymarket's Mater Hall and PPW programs who will provide healthcare services and developmental screenings of children whose mother's occupy Mater Hall.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Provides direct healthcare screening and maintenance services to children of chemically addicted parents.
- Treats common childhood illnesses.
- Follows up with medical providers when children are referred for care, and integrates any prescribed and / or recommended treatment regimen into the child's treatment plan.
- Educates parents on proper health precautions and maintenance for their children.
- Maintains confidentiality and patient rights., regarding all patient personnel information.
- Conducts self in a professional manner in compliance with unit and facility policies.
- Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., CPR, protects patients from injury).
- Maintains patient care supplies, equipment, and environment.
- Maintains patient documents and medical records.
- Works toward family reunification whenever possible.
- Assists in marketing program, identifying appropriate new linkages, and maintaining existing linkage relationships.
- Takes part in training offered by Haymarket Center in order to remain current with treatment practices with pregnant and postpartum women and their families.
- Perform duties that are part of the program guidelines or have been requested by the Clinical Director.
- Respond to all facility code blues.
- Track key milestones in the course of each infants PPW involvement.
- Provide daily nursing assessments to enrolled children and link them to age appropriate immunizations, FASD screening and health care provided by Haymarket's Health Center.
- Provide development screening and parent coaching, and assist with child care.
- Provide healthcare services to infants and comprehensive two-week and one-month checkup.
- Administration of the Ages and Stages Questionnaire at one month and each subsequent month thereafter in addition to a six month developmental screening. This assessment guide determines the developmental status of enrolled children.
- Will utilize Creative Curriculum Learning Games curricula used to improve cognitive and social development for children ages 3-6 and strengthen mother and child relationships.
- Responsible for medication and methadone administration.
