The Principal HRIS Specialist is responsible for working within the HR and IT teams to understand and maintain HR Information Systems needs as well as implement solutions or submit reports with IT and Vendor support. This position is an Individual Contributor role. The role directly reports to the HR Manager (HR Governance) and routinely interacts internally with HR Business Partners, Management, and IT as well as externally with Third-Party Vendors.
- Act as a liaison between IT, HR, and third-party support, troubleshooting and resolving end to end HR data and design strategies
- Interface with functional process owners and end-users to identify, define and document operational needs and objectives; recommend solution options
- Work closely with the functional HR team and the technical team to ensure data issues are addressed
- Provide end user support as needed, efficiently investigating, and resolving user issues and providing guidance/training to ensure best practices are being used
- Identify problems and opportunities for improvements within HR Systems and Processes
- Support of standard communications, processes, and reporting for HR annual cycle activities
- Work closely with other HR teams to understand and manage needed requests

- Lead project teams for system implementation as needed for new systems and current systems changes.
- Support the development and automation of standard data analyses, reports, and dashboards.
- Develop comprehensive cost-benefit analyses to capture the financial and other impacts of initiatives.
- Coach and guide less experienced analytical professionals in statistical concepts, principles, and tools.
- Analyze system releases and consult with functional users to determine the impact of changes.
- Identify and mitigate potential issues with updates to system resulting from policy or regulatory changes, consulting with functional users to implement and test such changes
- Test enhancements, functionality, and any system upgrades
- Understand and analyze payroll, HR, and benefits related data
- Produce and analyze HR reports, reach conclusions, or make recommendations to achieve business goals
- Monitor workforce productivity, retention, and engagement for trends and recommend changes
- Identify, analyze, and interpret data results or data trends using statistical techniques
- Provide ongoing reports and support dashboards to accurately check system and data integrity
- Examine data reports, and analyze metrics to identify exceptions, erroneous data, and trends for alignment and continuous improvement initiatives
- Communicate data analysis results and escalate identified critical business issues
- Assist with validation or testing activities and data migration
- Generate reports or queries, including writing, keeping, and supporting a variety of reports or questions using appropriate reporting tools
- Ensure that security protocols for information systems are in place and followed
- Develop efficient analytic tools for reporting and data comparison
- Distribute reports to Management and Business Functions as required
- Make recommendations for improving reporting process

- Support Compliance activities for various countries as needed; for example, USA Affirmative Action and EEO Reporting
- 10-15 years of experience in Human Resources, Human Resources Systems, or Data Analysis.
- 5 years in an HRIS or Data Analyst role
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Statistics, IT, other related field or equivalent certification/relevant experience.
- Knowledge of CB&I systems preferred (PeopleSoft, iCIMS, JDE, Power BI)
- SQL experience preferred
- Experience in the EPC industry preferred
