About your role:
McDonald Collision is looking for trainee technicians for our auto body department. Qualified candidates should have some mechanical background with auto body experience a plus. Candidates should own basic tools, but it is not mandatory. We are looking for motivated, responsible people with a desire to find a career path in the collision industry. You must be willing to be a part of the team and work well with others.

Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities:
- Performs light-medium body repairs under the direction of a trainer.
- Approaches repair planning with a sense of urgency, detail, and accuracy.
- De-trims and disassembles vehicles and maintains parts/materials in an organized manner.
- Remove damaged parts for repair or replacement and performs pre-pulls to repair vs. replacement decisions.
- Assists in identifying and sourcing parts, as necessary.
- Help to problem-solve on vehicles assigned to other team members.
- Reassemble the vehicle with attention to detail and quality.
- Consistently utilizes all required safety equipment, follows proper repair procedures, adheres to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal, and participates in monthly safety meetings.
- Follows Company safety policies and practices and immediately reports all accidents to the Manager/Supervisor.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
- Follow scheduled hours as needed, defined by your manager.
Qualifications
- Must maintain a valid state driver’s license to drive any customer or company vehicle.
- Uses good judgment in determining when damaged parts can be safely repaired for cost and cycle-time savings.
- Knowledge of manufacturers’ repair processes & adherence to the Company’s technical repair processes.
- Mechanical aptitude with problem-solving skills
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Troubleshooting/Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
