CNC Plasma Table Operator
Position Overview: McDonough Manufacturing is seeking a skilled CNC Plasma Table Operator to join our fabrication and machine shop team. As a Plasma table Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our CNC Plasma table to precisely cut and shape steel plates for various components used in sawmill equipment fabrication.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and program CNC Plasma table machinery to accurately cut steel plates based on engineering drawings and specifications.
- Set up and secure steel plates on the plasma table, ensuring proper alignment and adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate closely with the engineering and design teams to understand technical drawings, project requirements, and precise cut dimensions.
- Monitor the Plasma table operations to ensure consistent and accurate cutting, making adjustments as needed for optimal results.
- Maintain a well-organized and efficient work area, including proper storage and handling of materials, tools, and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance on the Plasma table machinery, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and address any operational issues or malfunctions that may arise during the cutting process.
- Inspect cut steel plates for quality assurance, identifying any defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from specifications.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations, using personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Keep accurate records of production activities, including material usage, cut times, and any issues encountered.
- Collaborate with the fabrication team to ensure timely delivery of cut steel plates and components for further assembly and production.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives by suggesting modifications to cutting programs, techniques, or equipment setup to enhance efficiency and precision.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in CNC operation is a plus.
- Proven experience as a CNC Plasma Table Operator or similar role in a metal fabrication environment, preferably within the manufacturing or machinery industry.
- Proficiency in CNC programming and operating software, as well as a strong understanding of technical drawings and measurements.
- Knowledge of different types of steel and their cutting characteristics.
- Familiarity with maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision to ensure accurate cuts.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and interpret engineering instructions.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
