JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: PROJECT DIRECTOR
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be certified in good standing as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
- Must possess a Master’s degree in Counseling.
- Must have at least three years of experience in leading school-based mental health services.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guides the overall direction as well as the day-to-day operations of the School-Based Mental Health Services (SBMH) grant program.
- Leads quarterly Advisory Committee meetings and monthly Management Team meetings.
- Provides fiscal management for the grant program by tracking expenditures and matching funds.
- Works with the Management Team to ensure that signing, relocation, and retention bonuses are paid (as applicable) and SBMH providers receive stipends to cover liability insurance and professional memberships as well as stipends for sustaining their licenses and/or certifications.
- Purchases supplies and technology needed for implementation of the SBMH program.
- Coordinates the payment of stipends for SBMH providers to buy clinical materials.
- With the Clinical Supervisor and School Principals, creates and offers a one-year induction program for new SBMH providers.
- Identifies SBMH mentors and ensures they receive the appropriate stipends.
- Serves as a mentor to SBMH providers.
- Provides SBMH services to students.
- Recruits and selects interns with the help of the Advisory Committee.
- With the Advisory Committee, chooses and announces the SBMH Provider of the Year.
- With the Clinical Supervisor, designs an electronic health record system to allow for coordination of mental health service records and spearheads implementation of the system.
- Provides oversight and support to SBMH providers as they track services provided to students and keep records using the electronic health record system.
- Creates a professional development schedule and coordinates professional learning.
- Collaborates with community and IHE partners to develop a plan for recruiting diverse candidates and oversees recruitment activities.
- Assists in data collection and works with the independent evaluator to complete and submit all required reports.
- Utilizes evaluation results and stakeholder input on prior year activities to make program adjustments over time.
- Participates in webinars and meetings with the SBMH Program Office, including the yearly SBMH Grantee Meeting in Washington, DC.
- Assists the Clinical Supervisor and School Principals with the selection of School Counselors and School Social Workers to participate in the Grow Your Own initiative.
- Collaborates with district English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) staff to ensure access to ESOL teachers and translators for students and families as appropriate.
- Works with the Special Education Director and Executive Director of Human Resources to ensure that SBMH providers and students with disabilities have access to any special assistive devices (i.e., switches, pencil grips, special computer software) and school-based therapy tools needed.
- Maintains and expands existing partnerships and cultivates new partnerships as needed to support successful implementation and sustainability of the SBMH program.
- With the Project Advisor and Management Team, designs and implements a sustainability plan to continue services beyond the life of the grant.
- Performs activities necessary to maintain licensure, such as continuing education.
