Job Summary
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to patients in our facility. This position is essential for supporting patients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and helping them remain as independent as possible. The PCA will work closely with each resident within our facility.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Provide support during meal times and ensure proper nutrition for patients.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs, personal care tasks completes, and report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by maintaining a clean living space.
- Engage with patients to promote mental well-being through conversation and companionship.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to geriatrics and other medical specialties.
- Participate in personal care interviews.
- Willing to learn how the personal care reimbursement program works and strive to maximize each clients participation in this program.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar caregiving role is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology related to outpatient care, clinic operations, geriatrics, and hospital medicine is beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills to interact compassionately with patients and their families.
- Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility and perform tasks that require standing for extended periods.
- Certification or training in personal care assistance or related fields is a plus but not mandatory.
