Position Summary

MCE is seeking an energetic and versatile candidate to join our team as the Business Development & Communications Analyst. An ideal candidate is a proactive professional with a strong customer service orientation, high attention to detail, exceptional organization and communication skills, and a passion for MCE’s mission. We are looking for an early-career rockstar who is energized by developing and managing processes, enjoys data management, and shines in logistics and events / meeting planning. This position will report to the Senior Director of Business Development & Communications and closely support MCE’s CEO and Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO).

The Business Development & Communications Analyst will provide critical behind-the-scenes support that enables a seamless experience for MCE’s Guarantors, donors and investors. This will include maintaining systems and processes for business development activities, conducting research and drafting communications, and supporting external events and conferences. A successful candidate will also be key in developing communication on our impact for external audiences, such as through MCE’s marketing materials, website and slide decks.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development Support (65%)

  • Support outreach to prospects, in collaboration with the business development (BD) team and CEO, through coordination of meetings, synthesis of meeting notes, drafting of communications, prospect follow up, and project management of the entire BD process
  • Support the BD team, including the CEO, in preparation for important external meetings and industry events through conducting desk research, providing summary briefings, designing draft presentations, and developing target prospect lists (as assigned)
  • Lead tracking of relationship data in MCE’s CRM (Salesforce), maintaining accurate records and fundraising updates for both prospects and current supporters
  • Take ownership of the Guarantor documentation lifecycle by maintaining excellent records in MCE’s electronic filing system and CRM
  • Support execution of 2-4 small-to-medium-sized events per year and play a key role in planning MCE supporter trips to the field
  • Support quarterly and annual reporting and related communications to current stakeholders
  • Work closely with the CBDO and Senior Director as needed to support other communications related to donations to MCE, including the management of gift receipts

Communicating our Impact (25%)

  • Update and maintain MCE’s marketing materials, presentation decks and other key resources for BD, including the support of MCE’s regularly occurring community webinars and MCE’s annual Impact Report
  • Coordinate the development of MCE’s external newsletters
  • Proactively update MCE’s website with the latest portfolio and impact statistics, news, blogs, and other new content
  • Draft and schedule content across all media channels (primarily LinkedIn) to promote MCE’s work and the impact of its portfolio partners
  • Collect, catalog, and ensure sufficient volume of high quality and relevant photos, stories, and videos that bring the impact of MCE’s clients to life
  • Maintain adherence to MCE’s brand by facilitating usage of MCE logo, business cards, electronic signatures, etc.
  • Miscellaneous Operations and Administrative Support (10%)

  • Support the coordination and planning of senior staff meetings (e.g. researching venues and vendors, booking accommodations, communications, etc.)
  • Scheduling meetings, including board-level and investment committee meetings
  • Coordinate and manage production of MCE stakeholder appreciation
  • Other requests as assigned
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong project management skills : a highly organized, structured thinker, capable of balancing multiple priorities and developing / thinking through project plans
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organized (ability to work independently and take initiative) and technologically proficient
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required; Spanish proficiency is a plus
  • Customer service attitude and proactive approach to anticipating and addressing the needs of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment; ability to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
  • Interest in impact investing and social entrepreneurship
  • Enthusiasm for learning, willingness to ask questions of supervisor and teammates in MCE’s fluid work environment and to accept and incorporate constructive feedback
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) required
  • Ability and interest in learning web-based platforms such as Salesforce, Mailchimp and Squarespace
  • Experience using design software (such as Adobe InDesign) is a plus
  • Sense of humor and self-awareness
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1-2 years professional experience (including internships) providing administrative and / or investor / donor support in a professional environment and relevant professional experience in marketing / communications
