Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and repair of our fleet of vehicles, including tractor-trailers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are operating efficiently and safely, while also managing a team of service technicians. This role requires strong technical skills in automotive diagnostics, diesel engine repair, and equipment repair, as well as the ability to fabricate and assemble components as needed.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the fleet maintenance department, ensuring timely and effective repairs and maintenance of all vehicles.
- Supervise and mentor a team of service technicians, providing guidance on best practices in automotive repair and diagnostics.
- Conduct regular inspections of fleet vehicles to identify issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Oversee the fabrication and assembly of parts as necessary to support vehicle repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs performed, parts used, and service history for each vehicle.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of fleet vehicles.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate vehicle availability for operational needs.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Manage In-service of new vehicles and ensure trade criteria is met on all outgoing units.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fleet maintenance management or a similar role within the industry.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair, automotive diagnostics, and equipment repair techniques.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment relevant to vehicle maintenance.
- Proficient with Microsoft office, etc.
- Ability to fabricate components when necessary for repairs or modifications.
- Excellent leadership skills with a focus on team development and performance management.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail in diagnosing issues.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and other departments.
- A valid driver’s license is required; additional certifications related to automotive repair are a plus.
