Job Description
McEwen Mining Gold Bar is looking for Summer Students to work in varying departments during the 2025 summer. The Summer Student is responsible for the performance of the assigned duties in a safe and productive manner. The summer student may be placed in one of the following areas: Tech Services, Crusher, Process, Safety, Lab and Warehouse. The Summer Student will report directly to supervision within their assigned department, and may be asked to assist in other departments as necessary.
Job Duties-will be assigned as they relate to the department the student is assigned to; and may include the following:
- Washing vehicles with a pressure washer
- Building signs and placing them
- Clean up crusher area including hand shoveling, skid steer operation, compressed air, etc.
- Painting, fence building and maintenance, reclamation work, piping, running parts, stocking and inventory count
- Assisting in surveying activities, including setting up and operating survey equipment.
- Collecting geological samples from various locations within mine.
- Must be able to be trained in and able to operate light vehicles, and other equipment as necessary
- Assists with upkeep of department to maintain a safe working environment
- Willing and able to abide by safety best practices, policies and procedures
- General labor tasks as assigned
Physical Requirements
- Follow all procedures and safety measures to assure safe production
- Work in all conditions and environments, varying amount of time on the job is outdoors
- Able to lift 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
- Able to walk up and down slopes and uneven ground daily
- Work and communicate as a team member with others
Work will be indoor and outdoor in all types of weather
- Incumbent may be exposed to chemicals, confined spaces, working from heights and in areas where hearing protection is recommended.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age on the first day of work
- Must be enrolled in or accepted to a postsecondary school to begin in the Fall of 2025
- Must be able to get MSHA certification (upon hire)
- Must be able to successfully pass a drug and alcohol test and physical examination, background check.
