Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our optometry practice. You will assist in various clinical and administrative tasks, contributing to a positive experience for our patients while supporting the optometric team.
Responsibilities
- Performing preliminary eye exams, including taking vital signs, auto-refraction, intra-ocular pressures and recording patient history.
- Assisting with diagnostic testing and procedures such as Optomap, OCT, automated visual field testing, corneal topography, meibography/dry eye testing and ERG.
- Preparing patients for examination by ensuring proper equipment setup and sanitization.
- Assisting new contact lens wearers with insertion and removal training and educating patients on proper lens care.
- Providing excellent customer service, answering patient inquiries and assisting with scheduling appointments
- Maintaining patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensuring confidentiality.
- Utilizing electronic health record systems for efficient documentation and management.
- Providing education to patients regarding eye health and treatment options.
- Performing basic office duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and processing payments.
- Collaborate with the optometric team to ensure seamless patient flow and care.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office/optometry setting and familiarity with optometric equipment and procedures are preferred.
- Knowledge of physiology related to eye care is a plus.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient care and satisfaction.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Commitment to upholding HIPAA standards and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Willingness to work as a team and assist other team members in all areas of patient care and office upkeep as needed.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
