Job Summary
The MEP Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, coordination, and oversight of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems on construction projects. This role ensures systems are designed and installed in accordance with project requirements, codes, and industry standards, and collaborates closely with design teams, contractors, and field staff to resolve issues and drive successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Review and coordinate MEP designs and shop drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications and building codes.
- Support pre-construction efforts including scope development, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
- Coordinate installation and integration of MEP systems with architectural and structural elements.
- Conduct site inspections to verify quality of workmanship, progress, and compliance with approved drawings and standards.
- Identify and resolve MEP-related conflicts or issues in the field through proactive collaboration.
- Liaise with MEP subcontractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and execution.
- Monitor and report on the progress of MEP systems installation and commissioning activities.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Assist in the review of RFI responses, submittals, and change orders related to MEP systems.
- Ensure safety and code compliance in all MEP installations.
Education & Additional Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering field.
- 5 years of experience in MEP engineering, preferably in the construction industry.
- Solid understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, including applicable codes and standards.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings and using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM platforms.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
