Job Summary: As an entry-level Project Manager/Estimator, you will be responsible for soliciting and negotiating price, schedule, and Job Contract expectations with customers and subcontractors while managing projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to review front-end documents, perform takeoffs, and gather pricing for all materials. You will prepare costing estimates and manage projects within a team setting, taking ownership of contract and negotiated projects from date of award to project completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solicit and negotiate price, schedule, and Job Contract expectations with customers and subcontractors.
- Execute takeoffs, prepare estimates/proposals, bid, schedule, and manage projects in a team setting.
- Review contract documents and specifications.
- Establish and communicate project sequencing and scheduling with Contractor/Owner, Subcontractors, and Internal Personnel.
- Maintain continuous communication throughout a project with all appropriate parties.
- Review and assess cost and scheduling impacts from Addendums, Construction Bulletins, and Architect Supplemental Instruction or other forms of revised contract documents.
- Negotiate costs associated with Notification of Change (NOC) and/or Request for Information (RFI).
- Track and record contract documents, RFIs, NOCs, and drawing submittals throughout a project.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management; minimum 2-year technical degree in a related field.
- Previous construction project management experience with a structural steel fabricator estimating and managing structural steel construction projects for regional general contractors, preferred.
- MS Office proficiency; experience with FabSuite and BlueBeam software, preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to understand design and construction drawings to verify scope of work quoting.
- Able to proactively solicit bid invitations and do accurate take-offs and change orders.
- Able to read and understand various types of project drawings, specifications, contract documents/waivers, etc.
- Able to work independently and proactively, be self-motivated, and deadline-oriented.
- Able to organize and manage multiple projects from start to completion with thorough attention to detail.
- Able to establish and maintain positive working relationships to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Familiarity with a variety of structural steel fabrication processes and materials used.
