Job Overview
McGill Environmental Systems is a biodegradable waste recycling company; composting residuals and byproducts from industrial, municipal, commercial and agribusiness sources. These materials are used as feedstocks to manufacture a line of branded compost products for the professional landscape, Turfgrass, and erosion control markets.
As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our equipment and machinery. Your responsibilities will include:
- Mechanical Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing pulleys, bearings, and repairing motors (including minor electrical/wiring work).
- Conveyor Systems: Maintain and troubleshoot large conveyor belts to ensure operational efficiency.
- Equipment Repair: Repair guards, screens, and other components to keep systems running smoothly.
- Inspection & Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular equipment inspections and follow preventative maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
- Lift Operation: Operate lifts safely as required for maintenance tasks.
- Work Order Management: Track work orders and manage maintenance logs in the system (MaintainX).
- Inventory Management: Order parts and maintain an organized inventory of tools and supplies.
- Collaboration: Work alongside subcontractors and vendors to ensure proper repairs and maintenance processes are followed.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in equipment maintenance or mechanical work, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Certifications: Ability to operate a JLG/Genie areal lift and skid steer (experience/certification is a plus, but can be provided).
- Additional Qualities: A-player attitude, Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented.
