Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Landscape Architect to lead and oversee landscape architectural and planning projects from concept through completion. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, design leadership, client engagement, and project management skills. The Project Manager is responsible for guiding projects through all phases, ensuring quality, efficiency, and profitability while mentoring junior staff.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Landscape Architect with a strong background in project coordination, construction documentation, and client relations. This role reports to the Associate / Senior Landscape Architect and plays a key role in shaping MSP’s design vision and business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Design & Management:
- Lead and manage multiple landscape architecture and planning projects simultaneously.
- Develop creative, functional, and sustainable design solutions that align with client goals and site constraints.
- Oversee the preparation of conceptual plans, design development drawings, and construction documents.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to meet profitability objectives.
Collaboration & Cross-Disciplinary Support:
- Work closely with other MSP disciplines, providing landscape architecture expertise for projects led by engineering, architecture, or surveying teams.
- Integrate landscape architectural elements into broader site development, infrastructure, and urban planning initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative environment to support multidisciplinary project success.
Client Engagement & Business Development:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring strong communication and relationship management.
- Lead project presentations and stakeholder meetings.
- Assist in business development activities, including proposal writing, networking, and cultivating new opportunities.
Construction Administration:
- Oversee bidding, permitting, and construction administration tasks.
- Conduct site visits, review submittals, and provide recommendations to ensure design intent is maintained.
- Address construction-related challenges and coordinate with contractors.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Landscape Architect (Ohio or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe).
- 5 years of experience in landscape architecture, with at least 2 years in a project management role.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Land FX.
- Experience in the development of master plans, parks and recreation projects, site planning, and urban design.
- Knowledge of grading, planting design, and construction detailing.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and consultant coordination.
- Strong presentation and client interaction skills.
