Position Summary
As a Warehouse employee, you are responsible for receiving, processing, and stocking inbound shipments from suppliers, as well as stock transfers from other branches. You will pull, package, and stage outbound orders for delivery or shipment. You will help keep various stock areas in good condition and assist with general housekeeping. You will assist with inventory control tasks such as cycle-counting and resolving discrepancies.
Responsibilities
General Employee Responsibilities:

- Each employee’s job description is not all-encompassing. Every employee is expected to perform any task as directed by their manager or supervisor.
- Every employee is expected to comply with all company rules including the Employee Handbook, Safety Policy, and Quality Manual.
- Every employee will be assigned regular working hours. However, each employee will be expected to be flexible and work overtime with little or no notice to meet customer requirements.
- Employees are not allowed to operate any vehicles, forklifts, or shop equipment unless authorized to do so.
- Maintain a high level of cooperation between all external and internal customers.
Inbound Shipments:
- Offload trucks and deliveries as they arrive.
- Inspect the goods for damage and verify counts.
- Sign-off delivery receipt, if required. (Note exceptions, if necessary).
- Check-in branch transfers, UPS shipments, and truck shipments by priority.
- Resolve discrepancies and manage non-conforming products.
- Ensure that each shipment processed is properly tagged and placed in stock promptly after check-in.
- Verify that all necessary notations are made on the paperwork and turn it in for processing.
Outbound Shipments:
- Read and accurately follow shipping and handling instructions.
- Check for special instructions such as machine shop work, time constraints on delivery or pickup, V-belts that require matching, expedited service, etc.
- Clarify any order with vague or incomplete instructions with the customer service representative who originated it.
- Fill orders from stock.
- Priority will be as follows:
- Rush or expedited orders.
- Deliveries by drivers or outside sales personnel.
- Will call orders.
- UPS and truck shipments.
- Forward any order with inventory discrepancy to appropriate personnel for a stock check, notifying the person who originated the order of the discrepancy.
- Stage the order in the appropriate location and arrange for a double-check.
- Verify that the correct items and quantities were picked and staged.
- Verify that the order was staged in the correct location to fulfill the shipping instructions.
- Package the order for shipping with regard to prevention of loss and damage.
- Complete manifest entries and/or prepare waybills as needed.
- Verify that all orders scheduled for shipment have gone out.
Inventory Control:
- Note which days you are scheduled to perform cycle count as directed by your Manager.
- Perform the actual count as directed by your Manager.
- Turn the completed report into appropriate personnel upon completion.
- Assist in the regular transfer of stock from secondary to primary stock locations.
- Assist in the identification and resolution of inventory problems/discrepancies.
- Help as needed with overhaul and reorganization of stock areas in poor condition.
Deliveries:
- Prompt, courteous, and accurate deliveries to customers routed by area and priority, as well as pickups at local suppliers and vendors.
- Report customer objections and problems immediately to the Branch Manager/Supervisor.
- Operate vehicles in a safe and legal manner.
- The majority of deliveries are small packages, but you must be able to lift 50-75 lb. packages occasionally. Heavier than that would be palletized.
Organization:
- Keep all shipping supplies organized, accessible and well-stocked.
- Process all manifests, waybills, and internal reports in a timely manner and store them in the appropriate locations.
- Maintain all relevant rate and schedule information for each carrier and post it in a visible location.
- Follow up on any discrepancies and/or problem orders promptly and ensure that each situation has been completed.
- Keep current with general housekeeping tasks such as clearing aisles, cleaning floors, keeping stock put away, recycling, etc.
- Operate all warehouse machinery and company vehicles in a safe and appropriate manner.
Continued Education/Product Knowledge:
- Learn McGuire Bearing Company part number system.
- Learn computer system (starting simply with part lookups and locations).
- Complete other training and seminars determined by McGuire Bearing Company and Branch Managers.
- Begin in-house product knowledge training.
Location & Commitments
- Salt Lake City, UT
- This is a full-time position.
- Hours are generally 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday.
