Description
Join our dedicated team at MCHC Health Center in Ukiah, CA, as a full-time HIM ROI Specialist! You'll play a crucial role in managing the release and acquisition of health information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and all other federal and state regulations, as well as adhering to Mendocino Community Health Clinic's policies and procedures. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional to help us maintain the highest standards in health information management.
Duties Include:
- Demonstrates the ability to work with all MCHC staff to provide efficient and effective customer service consistent with MCHC’s organizational mission, vision and values outlined in the strategic plan; participates and assists in training of new employees; attends staff development and training programs and orientation as prescribed by MCHC and HIM departmental standards.
- Demonstrates ability to independently solve problems and adapt to various HIM functions quickly. Assists other HIM staff as necessary to provide optimum efficiency, self monitors’ productivity and quality of work according to HIM guidelines.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the policies and procedures related to release of information, confidentiality, information security and information storage and retrieval.
- Analyzes and answers correspondence requests in compliance with applicable clinic, governmental policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Processes and documents requests from ancillary departments and release of information (ROI) requests and incoming records through the electronic medical record (EMR); copies health records and demonstrates proficiency in EMR procedures.
- Attends education/training for patient privacy and HIPAA compliance. Participates and promotes activities to support department compliance with PHI. Fosters information privacy awareness, patient privacy and HIPAA Attends to day-to-day workflow and function to minimize risk of protected health information breaches.
- Organizes and maintains personal work area and the HIM department’s physical environment to facilitate efficient workflow, optimize space, and ensure safety.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree
- Minimum of two years’ experience in Health Information Management, directly involved in the handling of PHI, electronic health records, and scanning
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two-year College Degree
- Certification in Health Information Management or Certified Medical Assistant with a Specialty in Administration
