I. Job Summary
The Medical Coordinator will coordinate all medical, dental, and other health services in collaboration with the approved medical providers. The Medical Coordinator will ensure the health needs of the unaccompanied children are met. They will collaborate with the LTFC Case Management team and Foster Families regarding medical appointments and health needs. They will also work with the insurance provider to ensure service provision and appropriate coverage for services.
Ii. Duties & Essential Job Functions
This position requires the ability to operate both in a professional office environment as well as a remote work capacity. 1 day remote and 4 days in-office is required for this role. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Remote duties require the ability to procure fast, reliable internet service (15 Mbps minimum download speed required) at the remote office location. Remote workspace must allow for phone and video calls to be made without interruption, the confidentiality of protected health information to be maintained, and equipment stored securely when not in use. Everstand will provide a laptop and cell phone. Employee is responsible for all other remote office equipment and costs.
Travel: Travel is required and will include local as well as potential out-of-area and overnight travel. Frequent local travel will be required to serve the home communities of youth and families served by the program.
Must be able and willing to travel to other cities by flying on commercial airlines, driving a rental car and/or using other transportation, and stay overnight in hotels, occasionally.

Ii. Duties & Essential Job Functions
- Arrange and partner with health professionals regarding health and safety standards for unaccompanied children in the LTFC program
- Follow disease reporting requirements in accordance with ORR standards
- Monitor and coordinate medical appointments and immunizations for unaccompanied children
- Have a knowledge of community health and mental health resources
- Coordinates medical services with medical care providers and insurance provider
- All other duties as assigned by the program Director. Arrange and communicate with staff for all in house and outpatient medical appointments/services to include: hospital emergencies and/or admissions, medical appointments, laboratory services, vaccine clinics, x-rays, and ultrasounds
- Schedule appointments, accompany youth as necessary on specialty medical appointments, and communicate provider’s questions/concerns to ensure accuracy and patient safety
- Produce appointment list and ensure all staff and foster families are aware via email
- Audit, track, and schedule required physical, vision, and dental appointments
- Update and file patient medical records, including retrieval and copies of medical records necessary for staff reports and outpatient services
- Organize and maintain medical charts
- Responsible for timely submission of Treatment Authorization Requests, or other forms required for reporting and billing purposes
- Inventory and maintenance of all administrative and medical supplies and medications
- Maintains regular and consistent communication with designated ORR Medical Coordinator, including participation in regular ORR sponsored training and guidance updates
- Assures completeness of documentation for the clients and for associated nursing functions such as the MAR, nursing screening exams, PPD screens, vaccinations, vital signs, laboratory logs, peer reviews and other quality initiatives, nursing sick call screens, consultations and referrals, in service training, and other activities of the healthcare suite
- Ensures completeness of documentation of medical services provided to clients as required in federal and state databases, including the completion and submission of medical serious incident reports
- Carries out physician orders and provides day-to-day nursing care as needed, including administering medications and vaccinations, simple lab tests, phlebotomy, throat culture, support to pediatrician, client education, interpretation of medical information, accompanying clients to surgical or extensive medical/emergency procedures, nursing intake, first aid, and emergency/sick call triage
- Performs administrative duties as requested by supervisor, including researching and updating protocols/procedures, obtaining educational materials, coordinating care at outlying facilities, tracking billings and expenditures, organizing in service training, assuring regulatory compliance of the health suite
- Assists case management staff to provide information, psychosocial education and local community resources as needed to foster parents and sponsor placements.

IV. BASIC COMPETENCIES
Education and Experience:
- Experience working with diverse populations, including refugees and/or unaccompanied children and adolescents preferred.
- Ability speak, read, and write in both Spanish and English preferred.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Possession of an active Registered Nurse license without disciplinary infractions by the applicable State Board of Nursing preferred.
- Certification to provide training, oversight and monitoring for Medication Administration Certification by direct care personnel, as per applicable State regulatory within the first six (6) months of hire.
- Two (2) years of nursing experience preferably in a pediatric or group home setting preferred
- Basic computer skills
